Stash enhancement

Hey, Sean, I think I hear someone out in the garage messin' with your stuff! Hurry, go out there and check it out! There's nothing interesting to see here anyway.

OK, now that we got rid of him, I'll share my stash enhancement for the week.

What's this you ask? Oh, that huge stack of lovely fabric up there? That's just fat quarters of the entire line of Paula Prass' Woodland Delights collection that I won from Jona at Fabritopia during Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Week!
I know, awesome, right!

And those fun patterns? Oh, yea, I WON THOSE FROM JONA TOO!

Since she was already shipping a box to Texas, I went ahead and bought some lovely yardage at Fabritopia to go along with those fat quarters to use for binding, backing, etc. I love this happy collection.

Jona has some great fabrics on sale and has a fantastic selection at Fabritopia. Head over there and check it out and stop by her adorable blog too. She's a sewing maven! Thank you so much, Jona!

I won an auction on Ebay and added another HTF (hard to find) FMF (Flea Market Fancy) print to my FMF stash.

So, if I count the swatches from Jody and Holly, I'm only missing one print, the blue seeds. If you are wondering how I acquired all of these lovlies, I put notes on the flickr photo. Almost all of the swaps were for that Pez fabric I found at the Dallas Quilt Show. That turned out to be a sweet find!

I hope she doesn't mind me sharing this, but the sweet Holly from thimble+bobbin sent me the most wonderful package of 2.5" squares for my hexagon quilt!
Hey, Holly, YOU ROCK!

And...
(yes, it's been a pretty good week)

I received a generous swap from a thoughtful member of the Hexagon Charm Quilt Piece-Along flickr group who included the most adorable needle case with a little embroidered hexie on the front!
Geesh, you guys are laying it on heavy.
I'm feeling really blessed this week!

Sorry for the two post in one day. I was just too excited and couldn't keep all this goodness bottled up!

It's here and it's stunning!

It arrived today!   My wall quilt from Elizabeth at Oh Fransson!  I won her December Giveaway Day custom quilt.  Lucky me, huh!

Edited 4/28/10
Out of respect for Elizabeth's work, I have removed the photos of this quilt from my flickr photostream, so they are no longer available to view.  You can see a photo of my quilt in Elizabeth's photostream

Thank you so much, Elizabeth!  I really do love it.  It's completely perfect.

Dear Santa

Santa, I was browsing around at the Fat Quarter Shop and I found a few things that I'd just love to have.  Nothing too extravagant and of course, everything would be put to good use.

This new fabric called Nicey Jane is just wonderful.  I could make something really cute with these fat quarter packs.

And a cone of this Gutermann 100% thread in white would go a long way! You know, there are 3,281 yards of thread on that cone. That's almost two miles!

I could also use a new blade for my rotary cutter. Mine began skipping while I was cutting out the fabrics for my latest quilt.

And lastly, I could use some of these clips to hold my bindings in place while sewing them on. I think they would save me a lot of time!

The Fat Quarter Shop wants to know what's on your Christmas list and it looks like Santa may grant a few wishes this Christmas. Head over to the Jolly Jabber and create your wish list!

The Holiday Spirit

I could not be more excited about what's going on over at Oh, Fransson!. Have you seen the beautiful wall quilt that Elizabeth is working on for me? It's absolutely wonderful! I could not be more thrilled or feel more humbled by her generosity.

I think the holiday snuck up on me this year.  Christmas is almost here and I still have so many things to do!  There are...

cards to be mailed,

quilt sandwiches to be made,

yarns to be knitted,

books to be read,

and gifts to be purchased.

But today, like yesterday, this is what I'll be doing...

working!

The company I freelance for has me working on holiday 2010 projects.  Right now, I'm in the middle of a collection of plush animal floor cushions.  After that, it's on to the holiday themed pillows.  Me personally, I'd just like to finish holiday 2009!

I can't believe it... I won!

I won the most fab-u-lous giveaway!  As part of Sew Mama Sew's December Giveaway Day, Elizabeth at Oh, Fransson! offered to make a custom quilt for one lucky winner.  That's me!  I am so excited!  I'm in shock!  Thank you so much, Elizabeth!

Before the "I won!" mayhem broke out around here, I was working on the scrappy log cabin.  I decided to take it apart and I'm so glad I did.  It was just too busy with all that crazy randomness going on.  I'm not sure what I was thinking when I sewed it together.

I got blocks separated, cleaned up, and re-squared.  I'm using some Bella white to add a 1.5" sashing between the blocks.  That process should go rather quickly and then I'll be back on track.

The sour cream chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate peanut butter glaze from smittenkitchen.com was wonderful!  It was as rich and intense as I imagined and was a big hit at our Sunday school class' Christmas Party last night.  I think I'll make it again for our family Christmas.

I'm so excited tonight!  I still can't believe I won!

Giveaways and Fledglings

I entered a great giveaway this morning over at The Fabric Shopper! Melanie (what a great name ) is hosting a giveaway with Jamie of Phat Fabric. An adorable apron pattern and three yards of fabric to create it! Be sure to check it out!

On another note, we've had two fledgling Northern Cardinals in our backyard on and off this weekend. They are (bless their hearts) the ugliest little things I've seen in a while, but oh what beauties they will become. On Saturday, this little guy finally flew over the fence into the alley. I hope that he's doing well. There are a number of cats that roam the neighborhood and I hope that his flying skills improved enough to get away from any mean cats that may have tried to get him.

I'm watching for them at the feeder, hoping I'll see them again before we move next week. Mama and Papa Cardinal were never far away while they were in the yard, so maybe they'll pick my feeder to bring their babies to when they are better fliers!

A great giveaway and my bright quilt

Sheree of Sheree's Alchemy is hosting a great giveaway on her blog. She's got a huge box of Amy Butler scraps and a cute Amy Butler pattern. Comments close today, so you better hurry! I read Sheree at Bloglines, but I somehow missed her giveway post last week. Bloglines is a little undependable sometimes. Good luck to everyone that commented though!

I laid out my fabrics for the Roundabout quilt from the quilt-along. I knew the fabrics were bright, but wow. It's starting to grow on me. The more I look at it, the more I like it.
